The Denver Broncos and Kansas City Chiefs braved the snowy elements in an AFC West showdown at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday.

Lest there were any concerns that the Kansas City Chiefs might have overlooked the Denver Broncos coming into their Week 15 showdown at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday, quarterback Patrick Mahomes and company silenced any doubts early on both sides of the ball in a dominant 23-3 win on Sunday.

In the first matchup of the season, the Chiefs overwhelmed the Broncos at Mile High in a 30-6 midseason win. On Sunday afternoon, they continued that performance in another win that showed just how far apart these two franchises really are.

Coming into the game, the Broncos had put together consecutive wins, including a strong showing against the Houston Texans, and had gained considerable confidence after installing Drew Lock as their starting quarterback. Instead, the Chiefs stole all of that momentum with a stomach punch of a win that featured impressive displays from both sides of the ball.

Mahomes and the offense moved the chains as if they were playing indoors rather than battling the elements on a very snowy day at Arrowhead. Mahomes finished the day completing 27 of 34 passes for 340 yards and 2 touchdowns, both to Tyreek Hill. Travis Kelce caught 11 passes for 142 yards and set the NFL record for most consecutive seasons with 1,000-yards receiving by a tight end (four).

On defense, Lock was under pressure from the outset and was forced to make one bad throw after another. Lock came into the game with a single sack against him, but the Chiefs got to him twice with another 9 quarterback hits after that. Lock finished the day completing only 18 of 40 passes for 208 yards and 1 interception. He finished the day with a 50.8 passer rating (Mahomes had 115.7).

The Broncos move to 5-9 on the season and are now mathematically eliminated from the playoffs in Vic Fangio’s first season. Meanwhile, the Chiefs move to 10-4 and stay alive for a chance at a first-round bye if they win out and the New England Patriots lose one of their final games.
