Kansas City Chiefs sign Chris Lammons, release Cameron Malveaux

Defensive end Cameron Malveaux had been a member of the Kansas City Chiefs practice squad since early September.
Per the NFL’s latest transaction report, the Kansas City Chiefs have decided to terminate the contract of defensive end Cameron Malveaux. Terez Paylor of Yahoo! Sports reports that the Chiefs did so to clear room for cornerback Chris Lammons.
Malveaux had been a member of the team’s practice squad since they signed him in early September, shortly after the active rosters were due post-training camp.
Malveaux is a big body at defensive end at 6’6 and 265 lbs. who first entered the National Football League back in 2017 as an undrafted free agent out of the University of Houston. He earned his first pro shot with the Miami Dolphins, with whom he spent most of the 2017 season on the practice squad before being elevated to the active roster late in the year. He spent the next season up and down with the Dolphins as well, floating between the practice squad and active roster.
Finally in November, 2018, the Arizona Cardinals snapped up Malveaux from the Fins practice squad and kept him until this past August. At that point, the Chiefs signed him to their practice squad and evaluated him until this Tuesday.
Malveaux made his way into 9 games for the Dolphins and 5 for the Cardinals in the last two seasons. He had 15 tackles and 2 sacks in that time as a rotational lineman with 1 batted pass and 2 more quarterback hits.
As for Lammons, the Chiefs are adding another former Dolphins defender. Lammons is a cornerback who first entered the league as an undrafted free agent in ’18 who has already spent time with the Atlanta Falcons, New Orleans Saints and Dolphins.
Lammons has appeared in 12 games for the Dolphins this year—his first NFL action—and has 12 total tackles, 3 batted passes and 1 interception.
