The Kansas City Chiefs announced a few key players are out for Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots, including Rashad Fenton.

The Kansas City Chiefs will be limited in both the backfield and the defensive backfield on Sunday with a number of injuries against the New England Patriots. Heading into Week 14, the Chiefs have learned they will be without running backs Damien Williams and Darrel Williams as well as cornerbacks Mo Claiborne and Rashad Fenton.

The Chiefs knew ahead of time that running back would be a major concern, which is why they brought a familiar face on board in Spencer Ware. The addition of Ware brings back someone who will need no introduction to Andy Reid’s offense while serving as depth behind rookie back Darwin Thompson and veteran LeSean McCoy. The loss of both Darrel Williams to injured reserve and Damien Williams to a rib injury that hasn’t left since Week 11.

In the secondary, the Chiefs are rolling forward with Charvarius Ward, Bashaud Breeland, and Kendall Fuller as the starting trio and it’ll be interesting to see how the Chiefs deal with any further issues at the position. They activated Alex Brown from the team’s practice squad, giving them another body to protect at cornerback. In addition Tyrann Mathieu is certainly flexible enough to take over the slot corner role, if needed.

Fenton and Claiborne are likely to return sometime soon although the New England game is a big miss. The pair of corners missed practice on Wednesday and Thursday so it makes sense for them to miss a game or more. That said, the turnaround the secondary has been a major part of the Chiefs success this year and the loss of both corners could make things tough on Sunday.
