Shane Lemieux, Oregon, offensive line

They say (Chris Trapasso):

"Kansas City needs to reinforce its offensive line. Lemieux is an experienced, decently mobile guard with the requisite balance to succeed right away."

We say:

This would ring the bells for a lot of us who have been frustrated by the play and health concerns along the Chiefs offensive line, especially in the interior. Laurent Duvernay-Tardif missed time with a knee injury in 2017, was out for all but 5 games with a broken fibula last year, and also missed a couple weeks this season. Andrew Wylie has also missed considerable time this year. The jury is out on Austin Reiter, but he looks overwhelmed at times as the full-time starter.

At this point, the Chiefs could use an infusion of dependable and top-shelf talent along the offensive line, even at tackle where the cupboards are completely barren when thinking about the future of the position.

Enter Lemieux who would likely be an immediate starter at left guard and would give the Chiefs a high-end performer who would then force serious competition at the other interior spots. He’s still a work in progress in the passing game, but he’d immediately improve K.C.’s run blocking and give them a pillar in the middle that has proved lacking in 2019.
