Let’s take a look around the AFC West as the Chiefs and Chargers enjoyed their bye weeks and the Broncos and Raiders were embarrassed.

Welcome back to another edition of Around the AFC West. On this short work week and wonderful Thanksgiving season, I am particularly thankful for the terrible other teams of the AFC West.

Even though the Chiefs enjoyed a bye week this week, they still won big. What is hilarious is that not a single team in the AFC West scored a touchdown last week. Wow. great job guys. We look so good.

I’m kidding, of course, but the point stands. The rest of the teams in the AFC West are bad and with the Raiders falling to the Jets (they were supposed to win out), the Chiefs have reestablished their stranglehold on the West. Let’s take a look around the West and see where our divisional rivals are headed.

Oakland Raiders

The Oakland Raiders traveled to New York to take on the Jets. I thought this game would be a tough win squeaked out by the Raiders, but boy was I wrong. Raiders fans will blame it on the travel, but frankly, I’m not even sure the Raiders did travel. The defense could not stop a single thing and the offense was horrendous. They came out and looked like they didn’t even care about playing a game. Dropped passes, a pick six, and an epic take down led to a very happy Sunday for me.

The Jets absolutely demolished the Raiders 34-3. Was this a result of overlooking the Jets or is it simply the fact that the Raiders aren’t as good as everyone thought? I think the latter.

In addition to the Raiders being embarrassed, they lost up-and-coming wide receiver Hunter Renfrow for at least a few games. After taking a hard hit, Renfrow continued playing, but after the game, he was diagnosed with a broken rib and punctured lung. Props to him for being tough and playing through that. This will certainly be a very tough loss for the Raiders as they look ahead to Week 13.

Next week, the Raiders travel again—although not all the way to the East Coast—to Arrowhead in a huge AFC West showdown. The forecast doesn’t sound awesome, which doesn’t bode will for Derek Carr, but Joshua Jacobs could be in line for a big day. If the Raiders want to have any shot of winning this game, they will have to lean heavily on the rookie running back. The Raiders always play the Chiefs close, but it is unlikely that they will be able to overcome the talent gap and pull out a win on Sunday.

Opening line odds for the Raiders in Week 13: +10.0.

Game time is 3:25 p.m.
