AFC stock reports: Chiefs struggle with identity, Colts out of playoff picture
Teams around the AFC taking a step back in Week 10
Indianapolis Colts drop to 5-4
Week 10 was a set back for the Colts as well as they took a painful loss to the Miami Dolphins by a final of 16-12. Starting quarterback Jacoby Brissett missed his first game of the season, injured last week, and Indianapolis is left with starting Brian Hoyer. Making his first start since Week 10 of the 2017 season, Hoyer struggled without his top supporting cast throwing 18 of 39 for 204 yards, 1 touchdown, and 3 interceptions.
With two consecutive losses, the Colts find themselves out of the AFC playoff bracket with the Pittsburgh Steelers stealing another game against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 10. With the Steelers taking over the sixth seed in the AFC, things look even harder for the Colts in 2019. The Houston Texans, on a bye this week, remain at the top of their division sitting at 6-3 and holding the third seed.
Buffalo Bills drop to 6-3
If the Chiefs loss wasn’t hard enough to watch, try watching the Buffalo Bills lose to the Cleveland Browns 19-16. At one point, the Browns ran 10 plays inside of the Bills five-yard line and came away with 3 points. Watch the Browns have complete success running the ball yet all of a sudden transitioning to onerous passing drives despite having a three-point lead.
Buffalo might have an elite pass defense, but their run defense is taking away that strength. Running backs Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt put up 146 yards collectively on the ground on Sunday. Since starting 4-1, the Bills have gone 2-2 since coming off their Week 6 bye.
Teams in the AFC on a bye week
There were plenty of teams getting rest during Week 10 that will be contributing to the playoff race. The New England Patriots, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Houston Texans were the three that took the week off.
