The Kansas City Chiefs added injury to insult with the news that they will likely be missing Emmanuel Ogbah with a torn pectoral muscle for the rest of the year.

While no official timeline was made known on Sunday afternoon, the Kansas City Chiefs are preparing to move forward without pass rusher Emmanuel Ogbah for likely quite some time—perhaps the rest of the season—after he suffered a torn pectoral muscle against the Tennessee Titans.

The Chiefs are not only reeling from such a shocking loss in Nashville in Week 10 but now they are forced to attempt to gain back any lost ground in the standings without their most productive pass rusher. Ogbah led the team with 5.5 sacks on the year, including another one on Sunday against Ryan Tannehill.

Ogbah came over to the Chiefs in a preseason trade with the Cleveland Browns in exchange for safety Eric Murray. Ogbah immediately made his presence felt at the start of the year as a rotational pass rusher with a great burst off the edge to get after the quarterback.

Further details will be given as the Chiefs find them out and make the corresponding roster moves to respond to Ogbah’s injury, but a torn pectoral muscle, for the sake of comparison, is what sidelined Houston Texans’ pass rusher J.J. Watt for the rest of the season in recent weeks.

Fortunately for the Chiefs, their defensive line has proven versatile and deep. Chris Jones has the talent to play at defensive end and rotate there with Alex Okafor and Frank Clark. Tanoh Kpassagnon is also a valuable and underrated end who can slip into Ogbah’s spot and get after the quarterback.

It will be interesting to hear how long Ogbah is out and whether there is any chance at all he could return late in the season or even into the postseason.
