2. Jermey Parnell, OT, Free Agent

Jermey Parnell was a 2009 undrafted free agent who signed with the New Orleans Saints as a defensive end. He spent the next couple of years learning the offensive line (while still playing DE, and T) while part of their practice squad. In 2010 the Dallas Cowboys signed him to their active roster to make him a full time tackle. He played in six games in 2011 for the Cowboys.

He earned a contract with Dallas and appeared in the team’s next 48 games (3 seasons), starting rarely but contributing regularly. In 2015 he signed a four year contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Over the last four seasons, he started 57 of the Jaguars 64 games, becoming a staple along their offensive line.

At 33 years old, Parnell cannot be considered anything more than a short term solution in Kansas City, but the alternative right now appears to be Erving, which is not working out so well. Parnell also has a wealth of experience and could benefit from playing a backup role for the duration of this season. Clearly his big pay days are behind him, but he may just be able to extend his career with quality play down the stretch.
