Tyreek Hill injury update: Chiefs wide receiver ruled out vs. Colts
By Matt Conner
The Kansas City Chiefs will not have Tyreek Hill available to play on Sunday against the visiting Indianapolis Colts in their Sunday night matchup.
Despite the positive news all week long that Tyreek Hill was looking better and better in practice for the Kansas City Chiefs, the news broke on Friday that the team has already ruled him out of the Week 5 game against the visiting Indianapolis Colts at Arrowhead Stadium.
Earlier this week, the Chiefs had Hill back in practice and he was running drills just fine. From the outside, Hill has continued to look better whether in weekly practices or warm-ups before the game, including some promising catches made last Sunday before the Chiefs took on the Detroit Lions at Ford Field.
However, all along the Chiefs have also said that they are not going to rush anything when it comes to their best offensive weapon. Hill is the most dangerous player in the NFL with the football in his hands, and the Chiefs have much bigger goals than simply winning the very next game in front of them. They want Hill ready and healthy when it matter most: the postseason.
In fact, the Chiefs early success this year as one of the NFL’s few unbeaten teams might be working against Hill’s longing to return due to the fact that they have a solid cushion in the AFC West. At 4-0, the Chiefs are already up two games on anyone else in the division which means that even if the team suffers a loss in the coming weeks, they still wouldn’t feel pressured to bring Hill along knowing the lead belongs to them.
The team’s trainer, Rick Burholder, said initially that Hill is “week to week.” Now it looks as if Hill will wait another week to see whether or not he’s ready to add another downfield dimension to the Chiefs offense.
