Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Nick Foles was injured in the first quarter against the Chiefs and was forced to leave the field after a touchdown.
The Jacksonville Jaguars went from a quick celebration after an incredible touchdown pass by Nick Foles to immediate concern about Foles’ status for the rest of the game. During the first quarter, Foles is now spending time in the team’s locker room after apparently hurting his shoulder on the touchdown toss to D.J. Chark.
Foles was taken down by both Frank Clark and Chris Jones on the play, with Jones following through with a hard drive into the ground. Foles immediately signaled that something was wrong. Adam Schefter then reported that Foles has been ruled out the rest of the game.
Per game reports, Foles went to the X-ray room to see the results of the injury.
Foles joined the Jaguars in the offseason as the answer for the franchise after several seasons of watching Blake Bortles fail to materialize as the team’s long-term answer at quarterback. Bortles left in the offseason to become Jared Goff’s backup with the Los Angeles Rams, while the Jags imported Foles after he was named Super Bowl MVP during his tenure with the Philadelphia Eagles.
At the time of his exit, Foles had completed 5 of 9 passes for 75 yards and a touchdown. The Jags now turn to their sixth round pick Gardner Minshew, who entered the league after starring at Washington State. The Jaguars have no other active quarterbacks on the roster.
