Former Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Orlando Scandrick didn’t last long with the Philadelphia Eagles after he was cut loose on Friday.

Well, that didn’t last long. Veteran cornerback Orlando Scandrick finally found a home for the 2019 season, or so he believed, just last month with the Philadelphia Eagles. Unfortunately, NFL reporter Adam Caplan says his time is already up.

Scandrick will be released on Friday along with a number of roster cuts as he failed to make the team’s active roster. The Eagles likely gave him an early release so he would have the rest of the weekend to talk to other teams and find potential interest there.

The Kansas City Chiefs employed Scandrick just last season in hopes he would help fill in a void in the secondary, but he’d lost his starting spot by season’s end to Charvarius Ward, an undrafted free agent who came on strong down the stretch.

Scandrick is a longtime veteran who began his career with the Dallas Cowboys in 2008 and played for them for nine seasons. Now 10 years into his career, Scandrick’s playing days might be over given that he couldn’t make the Eagles. That said, the Eagles are one of the most loaded rosters in the league and several teams are still in need of help with their pass defense.

What’s curious about this is that the Chiefs are still one of those teams. It’s unlikely that Veach would return to the same well once again since Scandrick was phased out but that was also under a different defensive coordinator in Bob Sutton. Either way, the Chiefs are likely actively looking for corner help all weekend while Scandrick hopes to help some other team with the same.

Scandrick played in 15 games for the Chiefs last year, starting 7, and finished with 44 tackles, 13 passes defended and 1 interception.
