Kareem Hunt now faces the full repercussions of his suspension from the NFL while he recovers from hernia surgery for the foreseeable future.

The next several weeks are likely going to be pretty tough on Kareem Hunt. He’s likely, at the very least, to be a lot more lonely and uncomfortable.

Not only has the Cleveland Browns running back (that still feels weird to type) recovering from surgery for a sports hernia in the coming days and weeks, but he’s also been ordered recently to stay away from the team during his upcoming suspension. Given that the regular season is ready to begin, that means Hunt will have to leave his teammates and best line of support.

Hunt’s recovery time is set between four to six weeks, which means he should be expected to be fully healthy by the time the Browns can physically turn to him on the field. Hunt will be used in conjunction with Nick Chubb, the team’s lead back, and should form a formidable duo for the season’s second half.

Hunt led the league in rushing during his rookie campaign with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2017 and was well on his way to a second consecutive Pro Bowl campaign when the Chiefs released him in early December of last season. After a video of an offseason assault surfaced proving he had lied to authorities and team officials, the Chiefs decided to cut ties with the star halfback.

While the NFL decided to suspend him for eight games, the Browns decided to go ahead and sign him while waiting it out. Former general manager John Dorsey was the one who drafted him in K.C., so it was natural that he would be the one who still feels invested enough to give him a second chance in Cleveland.
