Kansas City Chiefs vs. Pittsburgh Steelers: Everything you need to know
By Matt Conner
We’ve got you covered with information central when it comes to Saturday night’s preseason matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Kansas City Chiefs looked dominant in the preseason opener against the Cincinnati Bengals. Even running vanilla schemes on both sides of the ball, the team’s overall depth and talent couldn’t help but wipe the floor, er, field, with the Bengals.
The Steelers will present a much bigger opponent, even if they’ve taken their hits in recent offseasons. Antonio Brown is now gone to the Oakland Raiders and that comes one year after Le’Veon Bell ran himself out of town. Both men were among the elite contributors in the NFL at their respective positions, and it’d be hard for any single team to replace even one of them.
Despite the losses, the Steelers remain a feared opponent. Last year, they kept up fairly well with the Chiefs despite the loss. The combination of Ben Roethlisberger and head coach Mike Tomlin also remains potent even as they get older and must work with emerging talent to replace departed superstars.
For the Chiefs, it should be a competitive first half as the starters are expected to play in the first and second quarters. Will the Steelers step up to meet the challenge? Will they look as competitive as they have in yers past? There is a lot to figure out as both teams cement their depth charts after the second preseason game.
