Former Kansas City Chiefs running back Spencer Ware could be potentially lost for the season with the Indianapolis Colts.
The Indianapolis Colts announced an interesting series of moves if you’re a Kansas City Chiefs fan as they’ve replaced one familiar name with another.
Former Chiefs running back Spencer Ware was reportedly lost to injury for the entire season (more on that below) by the Colts who brought in the veteran to provide security and production beside Marlon Mack and Nyheim Hines. The team also has Jordan Wilkins in house.
Instead of replacing Ware with another running back, at least just yet, the immediate move was to bring in defensive end Dadi Nicolas, another familiar face to Chiefs fans as a former sixth round pick of the team
General manager Chris Ballard would be familiar with both players during his tenure alongside John Dorsey in the Chiefs front office.
Ian Rapoport noted that Ware was lost for the season in his report on Twitter, yet he specifically mentions that the Colts placed Ware on the Physically Unable to Perforom list. If this is true, he has the potential to return after Week 6 if he’s healthy. Maybe this is an oversight by Rapoport or maybe he’s correct and Ware isn’t expected back at all. Just an interesting note.
In the meantime, the Colts have worked out veteran running back Mike Gillislee on Friday.
