Tyreek Hill released a personal statement on Friday thanking a number of people after news broke that the Chiefs receiver would not serve a suspension.

Statements are flying everywhere on Friday.

It began with an official statement released by the National Football League on Friday morning stating that the league would not punish Tyreek Hill in any way—fine or suspension—after investigating claims of child abuse and more this past offseason. After a few months in which the Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver was expected to be potentially kicked out of the NFL or at least suspended a few games, the NFL ruled that he’s able to join the team immediately.

The statement was then followed by one from the team itself explaining that there would be no punishment for Tyreek Hill because the league hadn’t found any way in which he’s violated the personal conduct policy. It concluded with the line, “We are glad to welcome Tyreek back to the team and look forward to the start of training camp next week.”

From there, it was Hill’s turn to make a statement of his own and it was by far the most personal. Given the level of drama surrounding Hill and the roller coaster of emotions he’s likely gone through, it makes sense that Hill’s own response would be more in-depth and include some of the emotional relief in its content.

The text of the statement can be found below:

“The last few months have been very difficult for me, especially as a father. The false allegations originally reported in March were highly publicized and involved the care of my son. I am grateful for so many things and grateful for so many people who have supported me during this challenging time. I fully respect and accept the NFL’s decision.

“To the fans, friends, and family that I have made in Kansas City: I love you and thank you for your continued support. To the NFLPA, Mr. Ned Erlich: thank you for your dedication, understanding and guidance throughout this process. To the NFL, Commissioner Goodell and everyone who assisted in this investigation: thank you for your time and for conducting a thorough investigation. I will not let you down.

“To the Kansas City Chiefs, Clark Hunt, Brett Veach, Coach Reid, the entire organization and the Chiefs Kingdom: you gave me a home when everyone doubted me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I love you all. I can assure you that I will continue to work to be the person, player, and teammate that you envisioned me to be.

“To my children, my beautiful children: I love you all dearly and I promise you all that I will continue to strive to be the best father, the best friend, the best role model, and the best mentor I can be.

I love you all.”

Hill is now free to join the Chiefs as they assemble in St. Joseph for training camp next week after he was previously suspended from participating in any team activities as a joint decision by both the franchise and his agent Drew Rosenhaus. For the on-field product, this is exciting news for Chiefs fans given that the team’s dynamic offense should be locked in from day one and Hill himself will be motivated to channel these emotions in a healthy direction.

As for the legal procedures, they are not quite over yet. Hill is still subservient to family court and its demands. It remains to be seen how his relationship with Crystal Espinal will affect him in-season and how things will shake out there in terms of custody and rights.

For now, however, at least one aspect of Hill’s life has been settled. The NFL has ruled and Hill is a player in good standing once again.
