NASCAR driver Brad Keselowski decided to throw some odd shade on Twitter at Tyrann Mathieu and his work with PETA before slinking away.

Brad Keselowski reportedly stands at 5’10 and weighs 177 lbs at the age of 35. Tyrann Mathieu is 5’9, 185 lbs. and is only 27-years-old. We are assuming this information could become important to put together some tale of the tape in case these two athletes (used loosely here) decide to take their Twitter beef to the next level.

For the uninformed, Keselowski is a successful NASCAR driver who decided to take to Twitter to insult Mathieu with a passive-aggressive post questioning the Kansas City Chiefs safety’s work with PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals). Mathieu took exception and that’s where things stand now.

Earlier this offseason, Mathieu filmed a video for PETA for Heat Awareness Day (yes, it’s a thing) before the summer months for pet owners to remember not to leave their animals in hot cars. Every year, dozens of pets die in cars just because an owner wouldn’t leave the window down or take the pet somewhere with shade. In the video, Mathieu sits in a hot car with the windows up and lasts 8 minutes before leaving the car soaked in sweat saying he couldn’t take it anymore.

More than a month later, Keselowski decided to not only respond on Twitter but he calls out Mathieu for some odd reason with the following:

After this, a NASCAR fan named Rach tried to show Keselowski that the circumstances for a driver and a helpless animal or baby locked inside a hot car is different.

At that point, Keselowski (likely seeing how silly this whole thing is) tries to slink away with some dumb line about interpretation. It’s like giving someone the finger in traffic, having them confront you at the next traffic stop and then say, “If you wanted to interpret my gesture that way, that’s on you.”

At this point, Tyrann Mathieu finally saw the driver’s response and responded with his foot firmly on the throttle. The situation is now accelerating as quickly as Keselowski is likely used to moving.

At this point, reasonable heads will likely prevail and Keselowski will either delete the tweets or issue some sort of half-hearted clarification to calm the waters and/or try to put a PR spin on this to make it go away.

No one knows exactly why Keselowski would attempt to start some beef with an NFL safety or try to undermine a message of “don’t suffocate your pets in a hot car.” That’s not exactly a divisive message.
