Jordy Nelson is reportedly retiring from NFL

The Kansas City Chiefs will have to look elsewhere for a veteran receiver if they ever had plans to bring in Jordy Nelson as a free agent.
Per his former Green Bay Packers teammate James Jones, free agent wide receiver Jordy Nelson has decided to call it quits.
The veteran wideout has decided to retire from the National Football League after being released by the Oakland Raiders this spring. He originally signed a two year deal to play in Oakland, but Jon Gruden and Mike Mayock decided to part ways and reinvent the receiver position after also trading Amari Cooper during the season.
Nelson’s decision takes a nice veteran wide receiver off the open market, a player the Kansas City Chiefs were reportedly interested in bringing aboard. The official tweet from Jones reads:
Jones will most certainly be honored by the Green Bay Packers with any and all awards normally bestowed on franchise legends. Nelson was instrumental to much of Green Bay’s success during his nine-year stint with the team.
As for the Chiefs, the NFL Draft will sort out their final needs heading into the summer on offense, but the team has lost Chris Conley as a free agent to the Jacksonville Jaguars. De’Anthony Thomas is also a free agent, opening another spot on the roster. Given the drama surrounding Tyreek Hill and the inability of Sammy Watkins to remain healthy for a full season, the Chiefs are likely to add a couple new receivers to the mix in some way or another—perhaps a draft pick and veteran signing in free agency.
Nelson’s retirement removes one hopeful option that would have fit well with the team. However it’s hard to argue with a player going out on his own terms after a fine 10-year career.
