The Oakland Raiders have signed away one of the Kansas City Chiefs more versatile offensive linemen with the addition of Jordan Devey.

The Oakland Raiders have firmed up their offensive line depth with the addition of former Kansas City Chiefs lineman Jordan Devey, per Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. Terms of the one-year deal were not disclosed.

Devey has been a nice backup for the Chiefs since he was claimed on waivers from the San Francisco 49ers back in the spring of 2016. In that time, he appeared in 17 games for the Chiefs, starting four of them, playing snaps as both center and right guard.

Devey weighs in at 6’6, 320 lbs. and might have an opportunity to compete for meaningful minutes on a Raiders offensive front in transition. The Raiders already traded away veteran starter Kelechi Osemele who made the Pro Bowl twice as a guard. Devey could also serve as the primary backup to former Chiefs center Rodney Hudson in the interior as he did behind Mitch Morse.

Devey was earning more playing time last year as the Chiefs dealt with interior o-line injuries to both Morse and Laurent Duvernay-Tardif before Devey himself was injured with a torn pectoral muscle. The injury ended his season abruptly and he was subsequently placed on injured reserve.

The Chiefs have some interesting competitions to watch if they are not going to re-sign Jeff Allen as well as spots could open for roster hopefuls like Jimmy Murray and Tejan Koroma, both undrafted free agents from last year. Murray, from Holy Cross, earned a spot on the active roster for the season, while Koroma was a promising center from BYU who was placed on injured reserve during the preseason. Locks on the roster at the same spot include Kahlil McKenzie, who remains a long-term project, and last year’s ROY in Andrew Wylie.
