Andy Isabella’s Strengths

  • Quickness and acceleration

Isabella’s most obvious strength is clear. On tape, you can see that he can explode off the ball and make tacklers miss. With this electricity, he could become a great playmaker at the next level. This kind of athleticism is useful all over the field and any team that drafts him will see that.

  • Straightline Speed

Andy Isabella can create separation with his straight line speed. While speed is not the “end all, be all” that many make it out to be during the draft season. That being said, Isabella’s speed is no joke and it is unlikely that if he finds an opening that he will get chased down from behind. His 40 yard dash time was at 4.31 which was among the best at the combine this year.

  • Ability to adjust to the ball

One of Isabella’s most underrated aspects of his game is his ability to adjust to make catches. At UMASS, Isabella saw his fair share of bad passes but he was able to make great plays by adjusting to the ball in mid-air. This will help his game develop at the next level.

Final Analysis

Andy Isabella has a high ceiling. Although he is not a big guy, he plays bigger. He reminds me of Cole Beasley in the way that they play. He is a guy that can stretch the field as well as make people miss in the open field. At his peak, he could develop into one of the best slot players in the league. At his floor, he could be a mid-tier slot receiver. I believe that Andy Isabella may go before the Chiefs have a shot at him in the second round. If he is there when the Chiefs pick, they should certainly consider drafting him.
