The Kansas City Chiefs are hosting free agent cornerback Ronald Darby for a visit on Wednesday night per reports.
The Kansas City Chiefs will be hosting free agent cornerback Ronald Darby at Arrowhead Stadium on Wednesday night, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Darby is one of the biggest prizes of free agency given the lack of quality cornerbacks on the open market. Darby is young and talented, but even he comes with the caveat of coming off of a torn ACL injury. That means any physical will be paramount to a team signing him, making sure his medical record checks out.
Rapoport notes in his report that a signing could come shortly for the Chiefs given the rumored other interest in Darby. The Chiefs needed to free up cap space by releasing players like Eric Berry and Justin Houston while also trading Dee Ford in recent days, so perhaps Darby has been waiting for the Chiefs to get their house in order before taking visits. If so, that’s a good sign for the Chiefs.
Darby began his career as a former second-round pick of the Buffalo Bills before being traded to the Philadelphia Eagles in a 2017 deal that sent wide receiver Jordan Mathews to the Bills. Unfortunately for Darby, his tenure in Philly would be marred by injury. A dislocated ankle kept him out for several weeks during his first year with the team and then last year was a torn ACL. He started a total of 16 regular season games for the Eagles.
Darby only recently turned 25-years-old.
