Kareem Hunt is left waiting on suspension announcement from NFL

A spokesman for the National Football League says there is no timeline in place for an announcement related to Kareem Hunt’s suspension.
At this point, punishment is coming. The player knows it. The team knows it. The league knows it. Now, all Kareem Hunt can do is sit and wait.
The Cleveland Browns running back—that feels weird writing that out—is well aware that he will be forced to sit a certain amount of games before he’s able to play again in the National Football League, but there’s no timeline in place to even know when he will hear from Roger Goodell or the powers-that-be about his suspension. All he can do, along with the Browns front office, is to sit and wait, and Mary Kay Cabot reported on Monday that there’s no timeline in place for any resolution.

Hunt was signed by the Cleveland Browns earlier this offseason despite being placed on the Commissioner’s Exempt List. The Browns were happy to simply sign and stash a player of Hunt’s tremendous talents, even with knowledge of his involvement in more than one offseason incident involving violence or some sort of physical altercation.
The Kansas City Chiefs released Hunt back in early December after TMZ Sports obtained and released a video of his involvement in an assault stemming from the previous offseason. Hunt lied to the team about his involvement on several occasions, and the broken trust between player and team is what led to his release.
The Browns are hoping to hear a tangible amount on Hunt’s suspension to be able to plan accordingly for the upcoming season. If Hunt is available for much of the year, then the team might be able to deal another running back like Duke Johnson knowing they have the depth to operate. If not, the Browns might be forced to hang on to assets for fear of a worst-case scenario (e.g. Hunt missing most/all of next season).
For now, the league is content to attend to other matters, and the Browns knew this entire situation would be dicey from the outset. Even the question marks around his punishment are part and parcel of such a risky signing.
