While the Kansas City Chiefs are considered a favorite to win the Super Bowl next season they still have some needs to address this offseason.

With the 2019 NFL Combine set to start this week all eyes will be on Indianapolis to see which draft prospects will hurt or help their stock. Wether or not the combine is a viable way to judge prospects is a debate that I’ll avoid for today. However, since most fans of the Kansas City Chiefs will at minimum be keeping an eye on the combine results I thought it might be good to go over which positions the Chiefs have the biggest need at so fans know which position groups to keep a close eye on. Obviously the NFL Draft isn’t the only way to add players. The Chiefs could also choose to fill these voids via free agency when it begins in a few more weeks.

When putting this list together I decided not to try and predict what the Chiefs will do with players currently on their roster. I am addressing what needs they have based on who is on the roster right now today. For instance, since the Chiefs have not formally tagged Dee Ford yet (I suspect they will) I did not factor him into the current roster.

Before we get to the specific positions of need I would like to reiterate what I said last week. The Chiefs do not have a massive amount of team needs. With limited needs and three picks in the first two rounds of the draft the Chiefs do not have to be huge players in free agency this offseason. That’s not to say they shouldn’t look to fill some needs if the right player for the right price is available.

As things currently stand the Chiefs don’t have a lot of cap space to work with so they will have to be selective about what they do. That takes us up to the discussion of where they have the biggest needs. Let’s start things off with the position at the top of the list.
