Predicting the Kansas City Chiefs’ 2019 Season Schedule
By Drew Brooks
Week 12: Chiefs vs. Vikings; 11/24, 12:00 P.M.
After taking on the Packers, we predict that the Chiefs will stay at Arrowhead to host the Minnesota Vikings. This game could arguably be a primetime candidate, but we don’t believe it will be picked. There are just too many other good matchups the Chiefs will play in.
My prediction: 31-20 Chiefs win
Mason’s prediction: 31-27 Chiefs win

Week 13: Chiefs @ Lions; 11/28, 11:30 A.M.
We predict the Chiefs will have a short week after taking on the Vikings and head to Detroit to take on the Lions on Thanksgiving day. This matchup makes sense because it’s an opportunity for the NFL to show off one of the most exciting offenses in the league nationally. Why not take advantage of the fact that the Chiefs will play the Lions this year? Though this game will not be played at night, it will count as the Chiefs’ Thursday night game, and we predict that the Chiefs will not play another Thursday game other than this.
My prediction: 38-24 Chiefs win
Mason’s prediction: 31-17 Chiefs win
Week 14: Chiefs @ Chargers; 12/8, 3:25 P.M.
After the Lions, we believe the Chiefs will stay on the road and head to Los Angeles to take on the Chargers for the second time this season. One of the Chiefs’ matchups against the Chargers will likely be primetime, but we predict that it will be at Arrowhead rather than in Los Angeles.
My prediction: 34-28 Chiefs win
Mason’s prediction: 28-24 Chiefs win
Week 15: Chiefs vs. Texans; 12/15, 3:25 P.M.
Following the Chargers, we predict the Chiefs to head back to Arrowhead to face the Houston Texans. This will be the first time we get to see Patrick Mahomes face off against fellow 2017 draft pick Deshaun Watson. The Chiefs opted to select Mahomes over Watson with the 10th overall pick of the draft, and it’s looked like the Chiefs’ best decision ever since.
My prediction: 38-31 Chiefs win
Mason’s prediction: 38-28 Chiefs win
Week 16: Chiefs @ Bears; 12/22, 7:20 P.M.
Speaking of the 2017 draft class, we predict that the Chiefs will head to Chicago to take on another 2017 draft pick, Mitchell Trubisky. We think this will be the Chiefs’ final road game of the year, as well as the final primetime game of the year. It will be a great game for the NFL to feature as the season comes to a close, featuring not only 2017 draft class competition, but also competition between Andy Reid and former Chiefs offensive coordinator, now Bears head coach, Matt Nagy.
My prediction: 28-26 Chiefs win
Mason’s prediction: 31-28 Chiefs win
Week 17: Chiefs vs. Broncos; 12/29, 12:00 P.M.
To wrap up the season, we predict the Chiefs will take on the Broncos again. This would be a nice game for the Chiefs to win, ending the season on a high note with a win plus the cherry on top of beating a division rival.
My prediction: 31-20 Chiefs win
Mason’s prediction: 34-24 Chiefs win
The Chiefs’ 2019 schedule is absolutely loaded with good matchups—in fact, the Chiefs have the 5th hardest schedule in the NFL next year. Arguably, there are at least eight games that could be considered for primetime. However, we narrowed it down to five primetime games out of the allowed six, as well as one nationally televised game on Thanksgiving morning.
Of these five primetime games, we predict four of them to be Sunday night and one of them on Monday night. We also predict that the Chiefs’ designated Thursday game will be used Thursday morning instead of Thursday night.
My predicted record: 14-2
Mason’s predicted record: 14-2
Ultimately, we both predict that the Chiefs will finish with a 14-2 record. I predict that the Chiefs will lose to the Titans and the Packers, while Mason predicts that the Chiefs will lose to the Patriots and Packers. Overall, with the schedule the Chiefs have coming up, a 14-2 record is doable, but will certainly be a challenge for Mahomes in his second year as a starting quarterback.
