In the latest flip-flop, Matt House is reportedly taking the linebackers coaching job with the Kansas City Chiefs.

If the latest round of rumors from Kentucky football sources can be believed, the Kansas City Chiefs might just get their man after all. Matt House is reportedly going to be able to coach linebackers for the Chiefs after all, despite the recent back and forth in the news.

The Chiefs were linked to Matt House last week via a report from Field Yates saying he was the latest hire for Steve Spagnuolo’s defensive staff. However, reports began to emerge saying it wasn’t yet a done deal. From there, the news eventually fell apart saying that House changed his mind, while Ian Rapoport and Terez Paylor both noted that the university was to blame for not allowing House to leave.

Since then, details have been sparse as both sides were clearly trying to work something out. Matt Jones of Kentucky Sports Radio posted the following on Tuesday:

If House is taking the job, the silence begins to make sense from both sides. The Chiefs not only failed to address the situation at all, but it also didn’t look like they were moving on to other candidates. If Jones’s report is correct it likely means all parties involved were negotiating and/or waiting to see how things would actually turn out before moving on in any direction.

House joins Brendan Daly and David Merritt as the newest coaching additions to the Chiefs, assuming all goes down as reported. Of course, it will be nice when the Chiefs make this official with some sort of release to the press. For now, it’s just another hopeful report.
