FIT WITH CHIEFS

Rapp’s fit with Kansas City is an interesting one. For a safety to fit in with the Chiefs new defense, he will need to be able to play all over the field, which is one of Rapp’s strengths. Washington liked to use him as a box safety as well as a deep free safety. For the Chiefs, this would be an incredible upgrade for the defense. I would especially love to see what Rapp could do as Daniel Sorensen’s replacement.

Standing 6’0 and weighing in at about 200 pounds, Rapp appears to be solid muscle. He moves well and shows excellent break on the ball. While Sorensen is 6’2 and weighs about 207 pounds, he is not as strong or as quick as Rapp. In fact, the Washington safety appears to be a more polished and talented version of Sorensen. If Kansas City wanted a cheaper and long-term replacement for the current box safety that the Chiefs have, Rapp would be an excellent investment.

I believe that Steve Spagnuolo would like to use a player like Rapp for a lot of different things as a hybrid player. To me, there are few hybrid players in the draft better than Taylor Rapp. With his ability to be a “Swiss army knife,” the Chiefs could use him in a variety of different ways. In the Nickel, Spagnuolo loves to use safety blitzes. He is also a very good tackler in space. I really like his fit for the Chiefs new defense.
