Concessions

I love snacks. Let’s get that out of the way right off the bat. But I really don’t like having to fork over another small fortune to enjoy a snack at a football game. Many of you have heard that the Atlanta Falcons rolled out a “fan-first menu” which included soft drinks with unlimited free refills, bottled water, hot dogs, pretzels, and popcorn for just $2.00. They also included pizza, nachos, waffle fries, and bags of peanuts for $3.00, and 12-ounce domestic drafts at $5.00.

Arrowhead has some great menu options that push the bounds of stadium food and hearken to the BBQ soul of Kansas City, so I have no problem with some of their concessions being high priced. I get it! But, it would be nice to have some lower priced options for when you really just need something to soak up that tailgating beer or those last Fireball shots you did in the parking lot.

I also think the Chiefs might see an uptick in people actually purchasing concessions. I would be much more ready and willing to fork over $20 if I really feel like I am getting the value out of it. Every little penny adds up on game day with tickets, parking, and tailgating. When you throw in astronomical food costs, you are pricing average people out of a good game day experience.

Arrowhead claims to be all about the fans, so let it be all about the fans. Give them a fans-first menu like the Falcons!
