OAKLAND RAIDERS

The Oakland Raiders have remained relatively quiet in the last few weeks. The biggest discussion, of course, has been whether the Raiders will remain in Oakland for the 2019 season. The latest reports say that the Raiders and the city of Oakland will talk one more time about playing in the Coliseum before the move to Las Vegas in 2020. Mark Davis, the Raiders’ owner denies this report.

The Raiders are also looking at a new general manager in Mike Mayock. While Mayock may be the general manager, head coach Jon Gruden will have the “final say” in all decisions made by the Raiders. It will be interesting to see how this plays out given the historically poor drafting Gruden has done. With so many first-round picks in the upcoming two drafts, it will be interesting to see if Gruden’s “final say” pays off.

The Raiders continue to be a mess as they sort out where they will even play next year. It is hard to see them turning anything around unless they hit on every single one of their picks next year and those picks are immediately productive. I’m not betting on the Raiders being competitive for a while.
