The Kansas City Chiefs will be back to full strength along the offensive line when they suit up to face the New England Patriots on Sunday.

In a move that head coach Andy Reid had been hinting at for weeks, the Kansas City Chiefs have activated offensive guard Laurent Duvernay-Tardif to the active roster after bringing him off of injured reserve.

In order to bring Duvernay-Tardif to an active roster spot, the Chiefs have also decided to release veteran safety Ron Parker.

The Chiefs are now going to be at full strength along the offensive line for the AFC Championship when the New England Patriots come to Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday evening. LDT has missed every game since Week 5 when he fractured his fibula and was forced to go on injured reserve—the same week as rookie safety Armani Watts.

The Chiefs have muscled through injuries to the entire core of the offensive front this year. Mitch  Morse missed several games to a concussion. Cam Erving lost a few weeks toward the season’s end with an injury against the Ravens. Duvernay-Tardif missed two thirds of the regular season and even last week’s game against the Indianapolis Colts in the Divisional Round. Now the Chiefs will have their starting five lining up again for the first time since October.

Fortunately, the Chiefs’ reserves played very well in the absence of the aforementioned starters and they were also rewarded for their efforts. Austin Reiter subbed in for Jordan Devey, who was Morse’s primary backup, and earned praise from Andy Reid and a contract extension from Brett Veach. Andrew Wylie, LDT’s backup, was recently named Chiefs rookie of the year for 2018 for his ability to step right into the lineup.
