The Kansas City Chiefs will face the Indianapolis Colts in the Divisional Round of the 2018 AFC Playoffs.

The Kansas City Chiefs’ matchup for the Divisional Round of the 2018 AFC Playoffs has been set. The Indianapolis Colts defeated the Houston Texans on the road by a score of 21-7.

Regardless of what happens between the Baltimore Ravens and the Los Angeles Chargers, the matchup is already set. Since they are the highest seed in the playoffs, the Chiefs face off against the lowest remaining seed, which means the Colts will visit Arrowhead next Saturday.

This is not the first time the Colts have faced off against the Chiefs in the playoffs in the Andy Reid era, of course. In the 2013 AFC Wild Card game against the Chiefs, quarterback Andrew Luck led his team to an insane second-half comeback of 28 points that placed another dagger in the heart of Chiefs hopes. The last time the Chiefs played the Colts—all the way back in the 2016 NFL regular season—K.C. routed Indy and held them to just two touchdowns. This upcoming matchup will be a bit more challenging, though.

If the Chiefs can keep Colts running back Marlon Mack under control and dominate the line of scrimmage both on offense and defense, there may be hope after all. Luck is a dangerous quarterback, and the NFL Comeback Player of the Year candidate showed he’s back by completing a playoff win against the Texans in a season where the Colts were once 1-5.

It’s no secret that teams play better in the playoffs. Against a Colts defense that has been solid over the second half of the season, quarterback Patrick Mahomes will have to overcome a unit able to hold the Texans to just 7 points.

If Mahomes and the Chiefs are able to pull it off and defeat the Colts, it will be the first home playoff win in over two decades.
