As Patrick Mahomes wows the nation, Kansas City Chiefs fans are overloaded with highlights. And that’s just how it’s going to be from here on out.

This is really how it’s going to be, isn’t it?

Patrick Mahomes is, on a weekly basis, doing absurd things at such an incredible rate that we’re almost numb to it. Not completely, of course. “4th and 9” will live forever in Chiefs lore and highlight packages everywhere. So will the no-look pass. But think about what we’re already beginning to forget—just from the recent overtime win over the Baltimore Ravens game.

There was the touchdown pass to Travis Kelce, which Tony Romo completely credited to Mahomes and how he uses his eyes. There was the entire two-minute drive at the end of the first half, overshadowed by the no-look sorcery in the middle of it.

On that same drive, there was another physics-defying pass to Spencer Ware, and if Ware hadn’t gotten hurt at that play, the Chiefs would have saved a timeout and probably scored a touchdown at the end of the half instead of settling for a field goal. Even then, Mahomes created three points in 96 seconds by throwing the ball to Demarcus Robinson three times and Ware, Damien Williams and Travis Kelce once apiece.

That’s not exactly the Kelce-Hill-Hunt-Watkins array of weapons Mahomes has been working with for most of the season, and it didn’t really matter. That’s the new normal for the Chiefs. Of course, you want to give your phenom quarterback as many weapons as possible—and he still had Hill and Kelce these last two weeks—but if a drive needs to rest on Demarcus Robinson, Damien Williams and Demetrius Harris, it’s probably going to be fine. That’s an unbelievable thing to say about a quarterback of the Kansas City Chiefs.
