2014: Week 4 vs. New England Patriots

This is the Guinness game.

Andy Reid had already re-established playoff expectations in Kansas City the previous season and now the Chiefs were off to a sluggish 1-2 start with Tom Brady and Bill Belichick visiting Arrowhead in Week 4. To raise the stakes even higher, the teams were scheduled to meet on Monday Night Football.

If the Chiefs were going to make the leap under Andy Reid, they had to start performing well in games like this. The Guinness World Records crew was on hand to measure decibel levels for fan noise. Fans wanted a good reason to scream loud and fortunately, the Chiefs gave it to them.

The Chiefs dominated the Patriots to the point that columns after the game were saying that Brady had aged overnight and that maybe the Pats run was over. The final score of 41-14 didn’t even tell the real story—that the Pats were down 27-0 at one point and that it was never a contest from the moment that Jamaal Charles decided to assert his will on the field.

After the game, Brady said, “We need to make sure we never have this feeling again.” Perfect.
