Daniel Sorensen injury update: Chiefs safety returns to practice
By Jalon Dodson
The Chiefs practiced Wednesday ahead of their Week 8 matchup against the Denver Broncos with veteran safety Daniel Sorensen returning to the field.
Kansas City Chiefs safety Daniel Sorensen, who suffered an injury during training camp, was placed on injured reserve to start the 2018 regular season. The injured reserve designation allows for two players to return during the season provided that certain timing conditions are met.
The Chiefs now have three weeks to determine whether or not Sorensen is in a position to return, meaning that they will evaluate his practice during that given span to see if he can work his way back into game shape. This does not, however, clear Sorensen to play this week, meaning he will not be available for the Week 8 matchup against the Broncos. Nonetheless, this is good news as the team is one step closer to bringing back a decent safety who started 14 games last year.
Among those players on the injury report, there are no surprises as for the nonparticipants. Center Mitch Morse, safety Eric Berry, and outside linebacker Justin Houston all did not practice on Wednesday which was to be expected. While the nonparticipants aren’t necessarily good news, there were only four other names for the Chiefs on the injury report, all of which were full participants. Outside linebacker Tanoh Kpassagnon, safety Eric Murray, and running back Spencer Ware were all able to go for Wednesday’s practice.
As for the visiting team on Sunday, the Denver Broncos practiced on Wednesday without offensive tackle Jared Veldheer, center Nico Falah, safety Darian Stewart, linebacker Shane Ray, running back Royce Freeman, and wide receiver DaeSean Hamilton. A plethora of injuries is never a positive thing, and the Broncos are not without their fair share of injuries.
Of those practicing with injury designations for the team, one was a limited participant and four were full participants. The lone limited participant was inside linebacker Brandon Marshall. The full participants: cornerback Adam Jones, tight end Matt LaCosse, wide receiver Demaryius Thomas, and safety Dymonte Thomas.
