The Kansas City Chiefs bounced back from their first loss of the year and dominated the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday Night Football.

The Kansas City Chiefs were dealt their first loss of the year a week ago against the New England Patriots in primetime, losing on a last second field goal. Returning home to raucous Arrowhead Stadium, the Chiefs righted the ship and stayed perfect at home with a commanding 45-10 win over the Cincinnati Bengals in another primetime affair.

Kareem Hunt started the scoring for the Chiefs in Sunday’s contest. The second-year running back caught a six-yard pass for the score to put the Chiefs up 7-0. Mahomes acted as though he was about to take off for the end zone, and that caused just enough separation for Hunt from his man who bite down on the run look from Mahomes. Mahomes found Hunt again for a 15 yard touchdown pass to start the second quarter and give the Chiefs a 14-0 lead.

After the Chiefs defense had a stellar start to tonight’s game, the Bengals went on an 11 play, 77 yard drive that ended in quarterback Andy Dalton finding tight end C.J. Uzomah for a four yard touchdown pass. It was the only real offense from Cincinnati on display on Sunday night.

From there, the Chiefs dominated as Mahomes completed passes to eight different receivers. Demetrius Harris caught another touchdown pass from the Chiefs gunslinger, this time from 17 yards out and that put the Chiefs up 21-7. Harrison Butker ended the half with a field goal giving the Chiefs a 24-7 lead heading into the break.

The Chiefs got the ball coming out of halftime and kept the man of the hour, Kareem Hunt, busy as he put the game on ice for Kansas City. The leading rusher from a year ago ran in a two yard touchdown to give Kansas City a 31-7 advantage. Oh yeah, the defense? They were good too, solidified by Ron Parker picking off Andy Dalton and returning it 33 yards for a pick six. The Bengals answered with a field goal but it was far too little far too late.

After throwing a pick trying to hit Tyreek Hill on a deep shot on the previous drive, then having Hill drop a wide open touchdown strike on the next drive, Mahomes and Tyreek Hill finally got on the same page and into the end zone. Mahomes dropped the snap, picked it up and collected himself firing in a pass to Hill for a 3-yard strike.

Patrick Mahomes finished the night by completing 28 of 39 passes for 358 yards, 4 touchdowns, and one interception.

Kareem Hunt totaled 86 yards on the ground with 55 more through the air and hit pay dirt three times on Sunday. Travis Kelce also had himself a day grabbing five passes and going for 95 yards. Hill added a respectable 68 yards with a score.

Dee Ford had another productive day, despite missing his pass rushing mate in Justin Houston. Ford got to the quarterback for a sack and racked up a pair of tackles with a tackle for a loss on primetime in a contract year.

Rookie Dorian O’Daniel had a very night game running all over the field with an impressive stat line that still does not tell the whole story. O’Daniel got three tackles and a tackle for a loss.

Next week the Chiefs host the Denver Broncos at Arrowhead Stadium. The Bengals, meanwhile, host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
