Bengals vs. Chiefs: Betting advice for Week 7

The Kansas City Chiefs are favored by six points in their primetime matchup on Sunday night against the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Kansas City Chiefs are coming off their first loss of the season when they take on the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday night. Despite that loss, the Chiefs are still listed as six-point favorites in an expected high scoring game with an over/under of 58 points on Oddshark.com. 

While the Chiefs did lose last Sunday night, they looked fantastic doing it. Patrick Mahomes and the offense put up 40 points against a Bill Belichick run defense on his home turf. In back-to-back weeks, the Chiefs offense put up 30 points against the best defense in football in the Jacksonville Jaguars and 40 against Belichick. That type of production against that level of defense means the Chiefs can put up points on anybody.

The Chiefs offense is fifth in the NFL, averaging 418.5 yards per game and first place in points per game with 35.8. They are going up against a Bengals defense that is allowing 409.2 yards and 26.3 points per game this season. They are the fifth-worst defense in the league in yards allowed meaning the Chiefs offense should do anything they want to do on offense. I would be surprised if the offense doesn’t score at least 35 points in this game.

Unfortunately for the Chiefs, the advantage they have on offense is mirrored by the advantage the Bengals offense has against the Chiefs defense. The Chiefs defense is dead last in the NFL in yards allowed per game with 468.2. They fare just slightly better in scoring as they are only the seventh worst defense allowing 28.7 per game.

The Chiefs defense is going up against a Bengals offense that is sixth in the league scoring 29 points per game. While their points ranking is high, their overall offensive ranking is fairly low as they rank just 23rd in the league in yards per game with 352.2. This will be a test for the Chiefs bend don’t break defense as they can allow the Bengals to get some yards, but they have to not break to avoid a shootout like last Sunday night.

One thing we all know for sure is that you should definitely take the over on 58 points. The Chiefs offense will likely put up 35 points, and the defense is likely to give up close to 30 meaning a number over 60 is a near lock. It may not be a shootout like in New England, but it could easily be a high scoring easy win like in San Diego or Pittsburgh.

I do believe the Chiefs will win this game, and I think they will win easily. They will be at home, in primetime against what is sure to be a raucous Arrowhead Stadium crowd. One thing you can always guarantee is that the fans inside Arrowhead will take it to a new level when they are on primetime. Chiefs fans are big-time players who show up big time in big-time games!

Combine that crowd with a team who will be chomping at the bit to get back on the field and prove that loss last weekend was a fluke. The defense plays better with the help of that crowd and it seems Mahomes feeds off the crowd like Hulk Hogan making his late match comeback. I think the Bengals are walking into the belly of the beast on Sunday night, and they are simply hitting the Chiefs at the wrong time in the wrong place.

The Chiefs will win the game and they will win easily, the question then comes can the defense do enough after they get a big lead to keep the Bengals down by more than the six-point spread. I think this is a game at home that the defense will be good enough. I see this game as a big-time blowout early that the Bengals make a run late but it’s never within one score past the first quarter.
