Kansas City Chiefs podcast: Behind enemy lines with Cincinnati Bengals
The Kansas City Chiefs will host the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday Night Football in Week 7. We go behind enemy lines to get some insight on the Bengals.
The Kansas City Chiefs will be hosting the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday Night Football in Week 7. Cincinnati is a team that has taken the league by surprise after back to back seasons missing the playoffs. It will be yet another test against an AFC playoff-caliber opponent for Kansas City.
Coming off a loss in New England this past week, Kansas City will need to get back on track if they want to keep a lead in the AFC over the Patriots. While the Chiefs are still the top team despite the loss, the Patriots are knocking on the door as they get into form along with teams like the Pittsburgh Steelers, Cincinnati Bengals, and Los Angeles Chargers.
Kansas City will still be without players like Justin Houston and Eric Berry on defense but will have to find a way to slow down the Cincinnati offense that has been surprisingly explosive this season. Quarterback Andy Dalton has looked closer to his 2015 performance with a better supporting cast of weapons, improvements on the offensive line, and coaching staff changes.
Cincinnati’s defense will be looking to bring pressure to a beat up Kansas City offensive line. Players like Carlos Dunlap, Geno Atkins, and Carl Lawson are just three names that Chiefs fans will be seeing a lot of on Sunday night. If Kansas City wants to come out with a victory, they will have to overcome their offensive line weaknesses and attack quickly forcing Cincinnati to throw the ball for most of the game.
While I don’t see Cincinnati being able to keep up in a shootout as we saw against the Patriots this past week, they are still a team that should give the Chiefs some hiccups. Getting a win in Week 7 against the Bengals would be another statement for the Chiefs as both teams need a victory. Kansas City is looking to stay on top of the AFC, and the Bengals are looking to stay on top in the AFC North.
