Week 5 is now in the books and the Kansas City Chiefs and L.A. Rams are still the only undefeated teams. Let’s take a look at the NFL Standings.

After five weeks, the Kansas City Chiefs have developed a commanding lead over the AFC West, beating the Jacksonville Jaguars to improve to a perfect 5-0 record. Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Chargers beat the division rival Oakland Raiders to move to 3-2, while the Raiders’ season keeps getting worse as they fall to 1-4. The Denver Broncos weren’t able to get past the New York Jets and drop to 2-3.

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes threw his first interception of the season in a win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. Despite a rainy day at Arrowhead Stadium, both the Chiefs and Jaguars got the passing game going. Patrick Mahomes ended the day by completing 22/38 attempts for 313 yards, 2 interceptions in the air and 4 rushes for 13 yards and a touchdown.

On the other side of the ball, the Chiefs defense stepped up and forced five Jacksonville turnovers. Safety Jordan Lucas got one interception, cornerbacks Steven Nelson and Orlando Scandrick each got one, and defensive end Chris Jones got a pick-six. Linebacker Dee Ford also had a strip sack.

However, the day was not all good for the Chiefs, as they saw many injuries including linebackers Dee Ford and Justin Houston and left guard Laurent-Duvernay-Tardif. Despite the injuries, the strong defensive and offensive performances from the Chiefs led them to a 30-14 victory.

The Broncos took an early 7-0 lead in the first quarter, but weren’t able to produce much more offensively and fell to the Jets. Quarterback Case Keenum completed 35/51 passes for 2 touchdowns and 1 interception. Running backs Phillip Lindsay and Royce Freeman continue to split carries, rushing 12 times for 61 yards and 5 times for 31 yards respectively. Wide receiver Demaryius Thomas had a solid day, catching 5 passes for 105 yards and a touchdown. Despite Thomas and Keenum’s efforts, the Broncos fell 34-16.

Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers had another solid outing, completing 22/27 passes for 339 yards and 2 touchdowns. Running back Melvin Gordon also had a great day, rushing 19 times for 58 yards and a touchdown and catching 4 passes for 62 yards.

On the other side of the field, the Raiders did not impress once again. Quarterback Derek Carr completed 24/33 attempts for 268 yards, 1 touchdown, and 1 interception. Carr’s interception was his league leading 8th interception of the year. Running back Marshawn Lynch wasn’t able to get the job done either, averaging only 3.4 yards per carry. Ultimately, the Chargers prevailed over the Raiders 26-10.
