The Kansas City Chiefs hope to move to 5-0 but the league’s toughest defense stands in the way. Who will come out on top in Arrowhead?
Few additional elements could make today’s game between the Jacksonville Jaguars and Kansas City Chiefs any more anticipated than it already is. Perhaps if the teams were bitter rivals, it could help. Maybe if the Jags had been the team that bounced the Chiefs from the playoffs last year, it would heighten the tension. But pitting the league’s best defense against the league’s best offense is a pretty good sell already.
Patrick Mahomes has the Chiefs offense moving forward despite new tests every single week. He’s leading the NFL in touchdown passes yet he’s still not thrown a single interception in his first quarter season of work as the team’s starting quarterback. Last week the Broncos played an exemplary game in an all-out effort by their celebrated defense and even that couldn’t keep the Chiefs from pulling out the win with Mahomes in charge.
As for the Jags, they’ve began this year the way they dominated last season: behind their incredible defense. A.J. Bouye and Jalen Ramsey lock down the pass defense, while a number of pass rushers occupy the defensive front—each of whom can take advantage of a mismatch in front of them in order to get to the quarterback.
There’s a lot to break down about these teams so we have a list of links to help you get your morning reading in before the game starts.
