Although the Jacksonville has the best defense in the league, Kansas City has a defensive weapon in Dee Ford who will be vital in Sunday’s game.

After starting the season 4-0 and coming off a come-from-behind win on Monday Night Football, the Kansas City Chiefs will face their biggest challenge of the season when the Jacksonville Jaguars visit Arrowhead Stadium. The Jaguars own a top-ranked defense, the best pass defense and have surrendered the fewest points in the NFL through four weeks.

A lot of the focus will be on quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the high-powered Chiefs offense as both the Chiefs offense and Jaguars defense, both the best in the NFL in their respective facets, will face off. Despite the flawless four games from Mahomes, it is reasonable to predict that he could struggle and have an up-and-down game this Sunday.

This would be the perfect time for the Chiefs defense to step up on Sunday, starting with outside linebacker Dee Ford. Ford will line up against Jaguars left tackle Josh Wells, who is filling in for Cam Robinson after he suffered a torn ACL last month.

After appearing in four games and starting two of them, Wells did not commit any penalties nor has allowed a sack. According to Stats, he has only allowed half of a sack in his four-year career, which came his rookie season. But this will be Wells’ toughest challenge of his career.

Entering his seventh career start on Sunday, Wells will have a difficult time limiting Ford and keeping him away from Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles, who has been sacked six times so far this season.

Coming into Sunday’s game, Ford has three sacks and 22 quarterback pressures, putting him second among the NFL behind Chicago’s Khalil Mack with 24, according to Pro Football Focus. Ford left Monday’s game early due to a groin injury. The good news, he was a limited participant in practice on Wednesday, making it likely that he plays on Sunday.

According to weather reports, there is close to a 100 percent chance of rain during the game. Given the weather and that the Chiefs will face the league’s best defense, it could cause some problems during the game.

If Mahomes and the offense have a bad game, this would be the perfect time for the defense to step up, especially Ford. Expect Ford to have a big game against an inexperienced tackle in Wells to keep the Jaguars offense quiet and allow the Chiefs offense to do just enough to come away with a win on Sunday.
