Kansas City Chiefs draft prospect profile: Deionte Thompson, Alabama safety
By Thomas Welte
An NFL draft prospect profile for Alabama Crimson Tide safety Deionte Thompson and his potential fit with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Welcome back. Our fourth and final prospect for the month of September is a safety. No, he isn’t Earl Thomas, but he could be a big upgrade for the Kansas City secondary. Whether or not the Kansas City Chiefs should or should not draft this player is not up to me; I’m just here to provide a look at a possible fit for the team. As always, leave your thoughts in the comments or feel free to tweet your thoughts at me.
The Chiefs have been linked to rumors involving Earl Thomas this week, which has all Chief fans holding their breath hoping for some kind of relief on the back end of the defense. If Thomas is not in red and gold by the end of the year, Kansas City may want to take a long hard look at Deionte Thompson. Thompson is a 6’2 194 pound safety for the Alabama Crimson Tide. Thompson looks the part of a pro safety. Thompson has no history of major injuries in college. He does have some pending legal issues from a brawl in March of 2017, but Thompson maintains that he was not involved.
With that said, let’s take a closer look.
