Film Study: Looking back at Patrick Mahomes’ debut vs. Denver Broncos

Analysis:
This game, by all accords, was a game that meant nothing. Despite this, it was unbelievably memorable. As Chiefs fans, we have not seen much excitement at the quarterback position. No Chiefs quarterback showed anything electric for the past decade in Kansas City. Alex Smith was conservative, Trent Green was slightly above average, and the others were below average.
Mahomes first start was a glimpse of the future. While his performance was by no means extraordinary, we saw a quarterback that had the tools and capability of being one of the next great quarterbacks in the NFL.
Reflecting on this game reminded me of just how different a team can be from one year to the next. With Mahomes taking over, the Chiefs have looked like the best offense in the league. Kansas City had a good offense in 2017, but it looked vulnerable at times.

This year the offense has found a rhythm that appears impossible to stop. No matter what Chris Harris says, the Chiefs have seen this defense and they have dominated it through the first three games. On paper, the Broncos do not match up well with the Chiefs and I believe it is likely that we see that on Monday.
