The Kansas City Chiefs released the second injury report for the Week 3 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers today.

Several injuries have plagued the Kansas City Chiefs this week, with three players not practicing for the team today as the team released their injury report. A frequent mention on the Chiefs injury report, safety Eric Berry has yet to practice. The Chiefs said that they plan to have Berry back within the next couple football weeks (Week 4 being the second week).

Along with Berry, another safety Armani Watts was also present on the injury report today, but it was a non-injury related issue. He was excused from practice by the team. Watts’ situation doesn’t seem serious, however he hasn’t seen much starting action as a safety. He’s been primarily used as a special teams player over the last two weeks. In addition to the non-participants, there were six other names present on the injury report.

Defensive end Chris Jones returned to practice today as a full participant, after not practicing with the team on Wednesday. Cornerback Kendall Fuller, left guard Cam Erving, defensive lineman Jarvis Jenkins, and linebacker Reggie Ragland were all full participants in practice today. Linebacker Ben Niemann was a limited participant today for the second day in a row.

The 49ers also have their fair share of injuries. Offensive guard Josh Garnett, offensive tackle Joe Staley (veteran rest), and safety Jaquiski Tartt were all non-participants in practice for the 49ers yesterday. Staley returned to practice on Thursday after getting some rest earlier in the week.

Cornerback Richard Sherman also showed up on the injury report on Thursday after not being listed in yesterday’s. He did not practice with a heel injury. Wide receiver Marquise Goodwin, offensive guard Mike Person, and cornerback Akhello Witherspoon were all limited participants in practice this week.

Both teams will definitely feel the weight of the injuries if players like Jones, Berry and Sherman are unable to play. The Chiefs will reveal the final injury report on Saturday, and we’ll be able to get a definite answer on the injuries.
