Overview:

After watching this game twice, it is incredible that the Chiefs finished the season with a winning record. Travis Kelce and Jamaal Charles were the top offensive weapons for the Chiefs. The Chiefs were wildly inconsistent and Alex Smith was far from polished within Andy Reid’s West Coast system. However, the defense was not horrible a detriment.

Although wildly inconsistent, this team with a receiving corp of Junior Hemingway, Donnie Avery, and Dwayne Bowe was one win away from a Wild Card bid to the playoffs.

This game in particular was just ugly. The offense looked shaky and the defense looked inconsistent. The Chiefs made a lot of mistakes and allowed the 49ers too many opportunities. Colin Kaepernick and Frank Gore made some big plays down the stretch, and the Chiefs did not have the firepower to put together a game-winning drive.

Looking Ahead:

This game has very little to do with the upcoming match-up with 49ers. Both teams are completely different. The game should be somewhat high scoring and both teams are much better than they were at this time. Stay tuned for a write-up on the game plan and a film review later in the week for Sunday’s matchup.
