Chiefs Player of the Week: Offense

I’m sure you can already guess who my choice is for offensive player of the week. If you tuned in at any point in the game, you probably would have seen the outstanding performance by this second-year player. Despite the doubters, he continues to ball out.

Patrick Mahomes was absolutely, positively, undoubtedly, amazingly on fire. He set the record for most touchdowns in the first two games of an NFL season with 10 today, after an outstanding performance by the second-year quarterback. He also tied a franchise record with 6 touchdowns in a single game. He had more touchdowns than he did incompletions. That’s insane. He’s something special, folks.

  • Attempts: 23
  • Completions: 28
  • Passing Yards: 326
  • Passing Touchdowns: 6
  • Carries: 5
  • Rushing Yards: 18
  • Total Yards: 344 APY

RUNNER-UP: Travis Kelce (7 receptions, 109 yards, 2 TD)

Chiefs Player of the Week: Defense

There weren’t many standout players for the Chiefs in terms of defense. The majority of the game was an all-around lackluster performance. This player made the list of players on the rise last week and continues to improve by the day.

Kendall Fuller made some great plays for the Chiefs today. A would-be interception went right through his hands, but it was still an outstanding play by yet another huge off-season acquisition. Fuller does have some room for improvement in certain areas, but his performance was good enough to earn defensive player of the week honors. I expect great things out of the young defensive back for years to come.

  • Total Tackles: 7
  • Solo: 6
  • Assisted: 1

RUNNER-UP: Allen Bailey (2 total tackles, 1 sack)
