2017 special teams: Cairo Santos, Dustin Colquitt, James Winchester

2018 special teams: Harrison Butker, Dustin Colquitt, James Winchester

The only change here is Harrison Butker. The Chiefs signed Butker early last season after placing Cairo Santos on injured reserve due to a groin injury. Butker came on to have a star season for the Chiefs. In the 13 games he played, including one playoff game, he made all 28/28 extra point kicks and made 38/42 field goals. With stats that look even better than Santos’ best stats, the Chiefs don’t have anything to worry about with Butker as their kicker. Butker will look to have an even better season this year with the Chiefs and will likely play in all 16 of the Chiefs’ regular season games.

There’s no surprise in the Chiefs’ keeping Dustin Colquitt and James Winchester on their 53-man roster. Colquitt has played with the Chiefs since 2005 and, during that time, has been selected to go to the Pro Bowl twice, once in 2012 and once in 2016.

James Winchester has been with the Chiefs since 2015 and has emerged as a special teams rock. He has played in all 48 regular season games over the last 3 years and will he hoping to play in another 16 this season.

So with all things considered, let’s look at the Chiefs’ offense, defense, and special teams as a whole and compare it to last year’s roster.
