The Kansas City Chiefs are bringing in a fresh new face, per reports, with word that they’ve traded with the Dallas Cowboys for Charvarius Ward.
The Kansas City Chiefs are making moves early trying to beat some of the rush at the final of roster cuts with word that the team has made a trade with the Dallas Cowboys. While terms are currently unknown from the K.C. side, the. Chiefs have reportedly acquired cornerback Charvarius Ward, per Todd Archer.
Ward was an undrafted free agent out of Middle Tennessee State who signed with Dallas after the draft. The 6’1,198 lb. rookie recorded 74 total tackles, 2 interceptions, 13 passes defended and 1 fumble recovery in 24 starts at Middle Tennessee State.
Ward, who is 22-years-old, posted some above average numbers at the Blue Raiders Pro Day. He put up a 37-inch vertical, an 11-foot broad jump, a 40-yard dash time of 4.4 seconds, and 12 reps on the bench press (225 lbs.). All of these numbers would have tested above average in every category in the NFL combine.
Details have yet to be released for the trade, so at this time we do not know what we are sending to Dallas in exchange for Ward. Details are said to be finalized on Friday. The Cowboys could have needs at a couple positions of depth for the Chiefs including offensive line depth and wide receiver.
The Chiefs are clearly interested in Ward to help bolster a troubled cornerback spot. The team also recently signed Orlando Scandrick, formerly of the Dallas Cowboys, as a free agent to go with Kendall Fuller, Tremon Smith, Steven Nelson, David Amerson, Arrion Springs and other roster hopefuls. It will be interesting to see how Brett Veach sorts it all out.
