Per Josina Anderson, the Ravens, Patriots and Raiders are three of the team that have remained in contact with Bashaud Breeland.

If any team is going to make a move, it’s going to happen very soon. The market for Bashaud Breeland remains significant as the free agent cornerback decides what to do with his short-term future. He has myriad suitors, with potentially more to come, but given the timing of training camp and the looming season, general managers are going to want a decision soon. The player likely feels the same way.

Per NFL reporter Josina Anderson, the New England Patriots, Baltimore Ravens and Oakland Raiders are known to be actively in the mix for Breeland’s services at this point. That doesn’t necessarily mean that other teams are “out” but it’s just clear that those three teams are at least still in contact.

After the first preseason game, many teams will get a chance to see their needs from a different perspective. Many front offices want to see what they have on the field with their young players before needlessly signing a veteran and that might be the position that some teams were in when taking visits with Breeland over the last few weeks—a group that includes the aforementioned franchises plus the Kansas City Chiefs, Indianapolis Colts, Cleveland Browns and potentially the New York Jets.

The Chiefs hosted Breeland for the better part of two days during a free agent visit near the start of the team’s training camp in St. Joseph. However despite smiles all around and buzz on a promising visit, Breeland left town without a contract. The same happened at every other stop, however, so it was clear that the cornerback was doing his homework on all potential destinations.

Whether or not the Pats, Ravens or Raiders continued interest means anything for Breeland is impossible to tell. That could be his agent spilling information in the hopes of generating more interest. It could mean those teams have leaks in the personnel department while other franchises like the Chiefs are more tight-lipped. Maybe it means that K.C. is really no longer in the mix. Until Breeland signs, there’s simply no way of knowing.
