Former Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Dadi Nicolas has signed with the Washington Redskins in a rollercoaster of an offseason for the third-year player.

It’s been an very up-and-down offseason for Dadi Nicolas.

The former Kansas City Chiefs linebacker is once again in the news, this time for a good reason, as he’s reached an agreement to join the Washington Redskins early in training camp. It’s a great opportunity for a promising young player who was once hopeful to blossom in Bob Sutton’s defense.

Unfortunately for Nicolas, it’s been a rough road to this point. The Chiefs traded Nicolas to the Cleveland Browns for tight end Randall Telfer only to see the trade nullified. Then, in an odd turn of events, both teams ended up outright releasing both players involved and yet neither player ended up signing with the team that had just traded for him.

From there, as a new free agent, Nicolas signed with the Seattle Seahawks in May only to later be released that same month. Washington is now the fourth team he’s been a part of in some manner this offseason.

Nicolas first came into the NFL as a project of an outside linebacker, the team’s sixth round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. The Virginia Tech product was a bit of a tweener, but showcased impressive athleticism and burst, creating hope that the right coaching staff and approach could mold him into a situational pass rusher.

Nicolas did appear in 11 games, primarily on special teams, with the Chiefs during his rookie year in 2016.
