Bashaud Breeland rumors: Cornerback will make decision on destination on Saturday

Free agent cornerback Bashaud Breeland will reportedly make a final decision on where he will sign on Saturday after he makes his final visits.
Free agent cornerback Bashaud Breeland will reportedly make every one of his scheduled visits before coming to an official decision, per Eric Edholm. Edholm also mentioned that a final decision is expected to be announced sometime on Saturday.
Breeland is one of the top free agent defenders left on the open market and perhaps the best overall cornerback. Even then he is only available now because of a failed physical back in March that nullified his three-year deal with the Carolina Panthers. That contract was worth up to $24 million, and it’s likely that Breeland is trying to recapture as much of that money as he can with any new deal.
Breeland spent significant time with the Kansas City Chiefs this week and even walked around observing practice and inside the player’s dorm at training camp in St. Joseph, Missouri. For parts of Tuesday and Wednesday, Breeland met with coaches, players and front office personnel in an attempt to find common ground on a deal, but unfortunately nothing could be reached so he moved on to the Indianapolis Colts.
The Colts are currently hosting Breeland who will also head on to Cleveland to meet with the Browns before arriving at his decision. He began the week with the Oakland Raiders, but there has been little to no noise coming out of Oakland about any potential deal, so they have to be considered the longshot at this stage to land Breeland. The Chiefs are still considered to be in the running for Breeland, but it’s likely that finances might ultimately keep them from landing some cornerback help.

Breeland played with current Chiefs cornerbacks David Amerson and Kendall Fuller during his tenure with the Washington Redskins. Over the last four years, Breeland has started 58 games, so he comes with plenty of starting experience on the outside, a major need for the Chiefs at this stage given the question marks at the spot both in terms of overall ceiling and depth.
