Patrick Mahomes, QB

We’d be remiss not to mention the Chiefs new starting quarterback here, yet we can also understand that the NFL needs a lot more game tape before getting on the bandwagon for best under-25. We mention him, however, because he already garnered a few votes from ESPN’s analysts.

Mahomes showed off a rare sort of moxie late in the season to defeat the rival Denver Broncos in Week 17 despite playing with a limited deck. The offensive line was already suspect last year, but Mahomes played with almost every sub in front of him and at the skill positions as well. He made Albert Wilson a few extra million with an incredible final game, and a great quarterback does that with everyone around him—elevating the production of all.

It’s early to call one for Mahomes, but we’re all anticipating the goods anyway. He deserves a mention at least.
