One year into his tenure as general manager, most Kansas City Chiefs fans seem to feel positive about the job he’s doing.

For the most part, Kansas City Chiefs fans seem quite pleased with the job that Brett Veach is doing as general manager after his first full year on the job

We recently documented Veach’s five biggest decisions so far, which helped to provide some perspective on the massive amount of work he’s undertaken in the last 12 months. He’s made a surprising amount of moves, especially trades, given the successful roster he was given to work with. The Chiefs were already a playoff team with their quarterback of the future, but that hasn’t stopped Veach from completely overhauling the other side and making other major changes on offense.

We took a quick poll on social media and asked fans to weigh in with their reasons:

One third of all respondents love what Veach is doing with a solid ‘A’ grade. It’s likely that some fans will be “homers,” so to speak, and back up any GM at this point given that he’s still so new. But this is also likely the slice of the pie who were tired of Marcus Peters as a person—the same persons who wish he and other players would respond during the national anthem in a certain way.

The majority of poll respondents went for a ‘B’ grade and it’s here that we saw the displeasure of the Peters trade, which netted a second and fourth round pick from the L.A. Rams for a shutdown cornerback (sorry, but we won’t be responding to anyone who even tries to say otherwise).

Despite the feelings about the Peters deal, the overall response is still quite popular, with a whopping 89% of fans giving Veach a score of an ‘A’ or ‘B’. What’s even more important to note about that deal is that Veach didn’t exactly have much of a choice. If there was a directive to trade him or if there was just a simple “we gotta trade him” agreement with all parties involved, the Rams were literally the only franchise willing to pony up. What’s a man to do at that point? (Well, not trade him, but what’s done is done.)

What people mostly seem to love about Veach is that he’s depicted as a cross between Jules Winfield (Samuel L. Jackson in Pulp Fiction) and Doc Holliday (Val Kilmer in Tombstone) while he makes decisions with some devil-may-care attitude.

Unfortunately, some fans can see right through the facade and know Veach is just a nerd at heart. Still he’s our nerd.
